Discover the most recent features of the MLLP’s transcription and translation platform; and try them!

MLLP

If you haven’t tried yet our MLLP automatic transcription and translation platform, or if it’s been a while since you did, in this post we’ll sum up for you its new features. Support for media and text documents, speech synthesis, new subtitle timing functionalities… The MLLP’s automatic transcription and translation platform keeps evolving and improving!

The platform supports video/audio files (now with speech synthesis for translations), and also text documents (we’re especially proud of the HTML translation interface). We’ll categorize its most recent features and changes according to which kind of file they apply to.

1) PLATFORM-WIDE FEATURES

  • Languages supported for automatic transcription: English, Spanish, Catalan, Dutch, French, Estonian and Italian (German coming soon!).
  • Automatic translation combinations: All languages into English, English into French and Italian, and any combination of the trio {English, Spanish, Catalan}.
  • User groups: You can now create groups to share videos with other users in a collaborative editing scenario.

2) VIDEO/AUDIO SUPPORT

  • Text-to-speech for translations: Translations into English will now be audible thanks to our speech synthesis engine. This opens up new opportunities regarding accessibility. The platform will offer for now support for English with a female voice, but we’re also working on a male voice and speech synthesis support for other languages.
  • Adding, removing and modifying subtitle segments: You can now modify at will the subtitle segments (make them shorter, longer, combine several segments…) while editing subtitles in the TLP Player (just activate the Advanced mode).
  • Automatic retranslation of edited transcriptions: After the transcription of a video is manually edited, the automatic translation will be regenerated  in order to take into account user editions (but don’t worry, manually edited translations will not be overwritten!). This should reduce the effort to correct an automatic translation after the transcription in the original language has been revised. You can check the video information in your account to see if the regenerated translation is already available before revising it.
  • Uploading videos from URL addresses: As an alternative to directly uploading your media files into the platform, you can provide URL addresses for the system to retrieve them (including YouTube and Vimeo addresses).
  • Importing external SRT subtitle files.

3) TEXT AND DOCUMENTS SUPPORT

  • Plain text: The platform will automatically translate documents in plain text format. You can edit the result while keeping the original text in sight.
  • HTML (web) document support: Our HTML translation service allows the user to see the automatic translation as it will look on the web, and edit it side-by-side with the original text.
